With so much at stake, it's essential to explore and understand the options that are available to you. Since 1992, our firm has counseled clients who are dealing with drug charges, including:
- Possession
- Sale
- Manufacture and distribution
- Prescription fraud and forgery
Whether you've been charged with a drug crime involving cocaine, meth, marijuana, heroin, or a hallucinogen (LSD, Ecstasy, or mushrooms, for example), or any other illegal substance, we will explore all the ways to achieve the best outcome possible.
| For over 15 years, this has been our priority: |
We will analyze the weaknesses of the State's case against you, including challenging the validity of the stop or search that turned up the drugs, whether the police questioned you properly, and whether the evidence was collected, handled, and tested correctly. We make sure that your rights under the law are protected.
Alternatives to Jail
It's important to know that conviction for a drug charge does not necessarily mean that you'll end up in jail. Under New Jersey law, there are real alternatives to incarceration. Recognizing that many drug offenses area health problem, rather than a criminal issue, these alternatives are designed to help individuals struggling with addiction to take back control of their lives.
New Jersey has a drug court system, where in-patient treatment is emphasized over jail. If you're a first-time offender, you may be able to participate in a Pretrial Intervention (PTI) program. In this program, which usually lasts between 1 and 3 years, the court will impose certain conditions that, if successfully met, can result in your charges being entirely dismissed. These conditions commonly include a chemical dependency evaluation, a mental health evaluation, on-going treatment, regular drug testing and payment of certain mandatory penalties.
Contact our law office in Ocean Township or New Brunswick today and let experienced drug crimes lawyer Adam Jon Weisberg evaluate your case and advise you of your alternatives, so you can make the best decisions possible.
